Get to Know Us

The Orange County Bicycle Club (OCBC) promotes active lifestyles through the sport of bicycling in the Hudson Valley. We are a group of recreational enthusiasts that have been rolling for over twenty years. We meet with our bikes every Saturday at the Big V Parking Lot (intersection of 17-A and Route 94 in Florida, NY).

Additionally, our members meet on Sundays and weekdays for smaller club rides departing from various locations in the County.

We believe there is no better place to be a cyclist than in Orange County, NY. We have plenty of empty roads in a landscape of fields, lakes, pastures, and woods. When you crest a hill and see a gorgeous view of a high ridge, you can't help but feel a sense of peace and happiness. That is why we ride.

Our members are active in our communities. We do frequent charitable events, and have donated over 65 bicycles to less fortunate children in our area.

Whats with the Camels?

Some of our regular Saturday rides pass a large pasture, no different from any other pasture except for the herd of camels grazing in the distance. Those camels are friends of ours. They were rescued after movie, advertising, and circus careers by the Sanctuary for Animals, and they live on the farm with hundreds of other rescued animals of many different species.

The Sanctuary is a registered non-profit, but has no formal fund raising operation. We help support them through charitable events, and the camels show their appreciation with personal appearances at select events. The hills we ride remind us of their humps. So the camels have become our talisman. We salute them as we ride by.
